CHRISTIAN ROUX
Christian Roux (Senior Member, IEEE) received the agregation degree from the Ecole Normale Superieure, Cachan, France, in 1978, the Ph.D. degree from the Institut National Polytechnique, Grenoble, France, in 1980, and the Habilitation а diriger des Recherches from the Universitй de Rennes I, Rennes, France, in 1990.
Since 1987, he has been a Professor at the Ecole Nationale Supйrieure des Telecommunications de Bretagne, Brest, France. From 1992 to 1993, he was also a Visiting Professor with the MIPG, Department of Radiology, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. From 1994 to 2001, he was also the founding
Head of the Department of Image and Information Processing, and is the Founding Director of the Laboratoire de Traitement de l'Information Mйdicale, (INSERM ERM 102). He has published around 90 papers, four book chapters, has edited three books, and holds two patents. His research interests concern spatial and functional information modeling and analysis in medical images, and medical information and knowledge processing .
Dr. Roux is a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering and a Fellow of the International Academy for Medical and Biological E,gineering. From 1993 to 2000, he was an Associate Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON MEDICAL IMAGING, and is currently Chairman of its Steering Committee. He has served as the President of the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) of the IEEE in 2000-2002. He is the Founding Cochair of the IEEE EMBS International Summer School on Biomedical Imaging held every two years in Brittany, France. He is the Cochair of the 2nd IEEE ISBI to be held in April 2004 in Washington, DC.
